Ship personal effects from Bali to Australia

Australia is the most quarantine-strict destination we ship to. A smooth delivery is decided in Bali — treatment, packing list and paperwork done before the truck leaves your villa.

Quick answer

Sea takes roughly 4–8 weeks door to door, with LCL guide rates of USD 100–180 per CBM (2026). Returning residents usually clear used household goods duty-free under the UPE concession.

Do your goods qualify for the UPE concession?

What clears a shipment on paper

Treated, clean and specifically listed goods are regularly cleared on documents alone.

    • Commercial invoice with HS codes
    • Packing list matching your B534
    • Fumigation or heat-treatment certificates

  • Treated before loading

    • Tents free of seeds
    • Garden tools scrubbed
    • Contents listed per carton

Australian biosecurity

Why clearance is decided in Bali

Australia’s Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry routinely screens used household goods from Indonesia — wood, rattan, bicycles and vacuum cleaners are the usual flags.

  1. Pre-treated and itemised

Often cleared on documents, around 5–10 business days after discharge.

  2. Untreated or vaguely listed

Can lose one to two weeks in an inspection queue.

  3. Cleaned during packing

We clean and photograph items during export packing, before anything leaves Bali.

Asked constantly

Personal effects to Australia questions

Do I need to fill out form B534?

Yes. Unaccompanied personal effects are declared to the Australian Border Force on form B534, lodged after arrival. It asks where and how long you owned each item — we write the packing list to match it.

Can I mix new Bali furniture with used personal effects?

Physically yes — one container, one sailing. Legally it is two declarations: used goods owned 12+ months under the UPE concession, new purchases on separate lines with 10% GST plus any duty.

Will my wooden and rattan furniture be fumigated in Bali?

Yes, when Australia is the destination. Wood, rattan and bamboo are fumigated or heat-treated before loading, and the certificates travel with the documents. Treatment is its own quote line — never a hidden fee.

Do I need to arrive before my personal effects land?

The concession expects you to arrive before, or about with, the goods. With weeks at sea, most people fly first. If plans slip, tell us — delaying a sailing costs far less than storing an uncleared container.

How long does quarantine clearance take?

Around 5–10 business days after discharge with clean documents and treatment certificates, based on 2025–2026 patterns. A physical inspection can add one to two weeks — both are built into the door-to-door estimate.
